Final service availability, turnaround time, and pricing depend on vehicle or property condition, selected materials, surface prep required, and current appointment scheduling.
3. Quotes, Appointments, Deposits, and Payments
-
Quotes & Estimates: All written or verbal estimates are non-binding quotes based on initial information provided by the customer. Final pricing is subject to adjustment following an in-person visual inspection of the vehicle or glass surface.
-
Deposits & Rescheduling: A deposit may be required to secure an installation slot or order specialty material. Please contact us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule your appointment.
-
Payment Terms: Full payment is due immediately upon completion of services prior to vehicle release or final job sign-off, unless prior written commercial credit terms have been established.
4. Manufacturer & Workmanship Warranty Policy
The Windows Tinting is an authorized installer of premium automotive and architectural films (including 3M, Llumar, and other industry-leading manufacturers). Warranties offered by TWT consist of two distinct components: the Manufacturer Material Warranty and the TWT Installation & Workmanship Guarantee.
A. Automotive Window Tinting (Lifetime Limited Warranty)
-
Definition of “Lifetime”: For automotive window tinting, the term “Lifetime Warranty” refers specifically to the ownership period of the original purchaser of the service while they continue to own or lease the specific vehicle identified on the original invoice. This warranty is non-transferable to subsequent owners upon sale, trade-in, or title transfer.
-
Coverage: Authorized manufacturer warranties cover material defects including blistering, bubbling, cracking, delamination, peeling, or abnormal color change (purple fading).
-
TWT Workmanship Guarantee: We guarantee that film is installed according to high professional standards. In the event of installation-related peeling or adhesive failure not caused by improper care or physical damage, TWT will repair or replace the affected film at no charge for labor or materials.
B. Paint Protection Film (PPF) & Specialty Films (10-Year Limited Warranty)
-
Coverage Period: Premium Paint Protection Film (PPF) installations carry a 10-Year Limited Warranty starting from the date of installation on the original invoice.
-
Coverage: Protects against yellowing, cracking, bubbling, or peeling caused by material manufacturing defects or improper installation adhesive bond under normal driving conditions.
C. Commercial & Architectural Window Film (10 to 15-Year Limited Warranty)
-
Coverage Period: Commercial and residential window films carry a 10-year to 15-year manufacturer warranty depending on the specific film series selected (e.g., dual-reflective, ceramic, safety/security films) as detailed on your project proposal or invoice.
-
Coverage: Covers bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination, thermal shock glass breakage, and seal failure per the specific manufacturer’s written policy.
5. Warranty Exclusions & Post-Installation Curing
Warranties do not cover damage resulting from:
-
Improper Care During Curing: Rolling down vehicle windows or activating rear glass defroster heating elements within the mandatory 3 to 5-day post-installation curing window.
-
Normal Curing Characteristics: Small water pockets, haze, or a milky appearance under the film immediately after installation are normal parts of the evaporation process and typically clear within 3 to 21 days depending on weather and sun exposure.
-
Physical Damage & Abuse: Scratches, gouges, seatbelt buckle clicks, pet claw marks, glass impacts, accidents, pressure washing closer than 12 inches to edges, or abrasive cleaning products (such as ammonia-based glass cleaners like Windex).
-
Pre-Existing Defect: Pre-existing glass scratches, paint chips, cracked defroster lines, or glass delamination.
-
Micro-Dust Acceptance: While TWT operates clean installation bays, window tinting and film application are performed in open air. Minor micro-dust specks or imperfections invisible from a distance of 3 to 6 feet under natural daylight fall within standard industry acceptance guidelines.
6. How to File a Warranty Claim
To process a warranty inspection or claim:
-
Contact TWT via phone at
818-217-8523or email[email protected]to schedule an inspection. -
Present your original invoice, work order, or authorized manufacturer warranty document.
-
Bring the vehicle or provide access to the property for visual verification by a TWT technician.
-
Upon confirmation of a covered material or installation defect, TWT will replace the defective film on the affected panel at no charge. Warranties cover replacement service only and do not entitle the customer to monetary refunds.
7. Vehicle Code Compliance & Customer Liability
California Vehicle Code (CVC § 26708) regulates visual light transmission (VLT) for front side windows and windshields. TWT provides tint options that comply with California state laws as well as darker films requested by customers for off-road, show, medical exemption, or private vehicle use.
If a customer explicitly requests a film shade that exceeds legal state limits, the customer assumes full legal and financial responsibility for any traffic citations, “fix-it” tickets, or vehicle inspection notices. TWT is not liable for court fines, ticket costs, or film removal/re-tinting fees ordered by law enforcement.
